BRAKES — They’re That Important.

Why get your brakes serviced at Pride Auto Care, Full Service Tire and Auto Repair?

First off, we offer a completely FREE brake inspection.

It’s that important to check your brakes when you suspect something might be wrong or just for a general check-up, regardless if you’re having brake-related issues. And we feel like charging for this safety check-up is not needed!

AT NO CHARGE, seriously, we will diagnosis your entire brake system to check for current or potential wear and tear or other system problems. And if repairs or part replacements are needed, we will walk you safely back to your car if you like (our service areas are NOT off limits to OUR customers) and literally show you directly what is wrong and explain in understandable language why the repairs should be done. No hard selling here… just real answers to your real concerns and questions… 30 years strong!

Second, Pride Auto Care is your place for brakes because we offer our Lifetime Warranty on all brake pads & shoes (except under commercial use); one of the very best warranties around.

How important are brakes and what do they do?

  • They help to stop your car and keep it under control.
Sounds simple but there’s more to it than that. Your car’s brake system is certainly one of the most critical safety systems on your car. You should check it immediately if you suspect any problems. A properly operating brake system helps ensure safe vehicle control, stopping and basic operation under a wide variety of conditions.

  • When you push the brake pedal, the force generates hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder.
This pressure flows through the hydraulic lines and hoses to the wheel cylinders and calipers, forcing the shoes against the drums (drum brakes) and/or the pads against the rotors (disc brakes). The resulting friction slows the vehicle and is relative to the amount of force applied at the brake pedal.

At pride auto care we can do all of the following brake services for you:

  • Brake hoses and steel line repair/replacement
  • Brake pads and shoes replacement
  • Wheel bearings and grease seals
  • Rotor and drum machining and replacement
  • Brake fluid testing and flushing
  • Brake system bleeding
  • ABS Systems
  • Master Cylinders

BRAKES — Typical Wear and Tear

Brakes are a normal wear item for any vehicle and eventually they’re going to need replacement. Avoid letting your brakes get to the “metal-to-metal” point, which usually means potentially other, more expensive costs to perform a quality brake service, including rotor or drum replacement. See your owner’s manual for details on your vehicle’s brake system and required or recommended maintenance.

Several factors that affect wear include:

  • Driving habits
  • Operating conditions
  • Vehicle type and weight
  • The materials and quality of brake materials

Symptoms of Brakes Needing Attention:

  • Car pulls to one side during braking
  • Brake pedal pulsates when you apply the brakes
  • Brake pedal feels “mushy” or the pedal goes to or near the floor
  • Noise when you step on the brake pedal
  • Repeatedly need to add brake fluid to the master cylinder
